Description: PURPOSE:
The Master Scheduler develops, publishes, and maintains the Master Production Schedule (MPS), balancing inventory, resources, and capacity for one or more Business Unit(s). You will act as a liaison between Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Development, and Program Management to control the Master Schedule. Assists other production support groups in achieving corporate goals.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops, publishes, and maintains the Master Production Schedule, balancing inventory, resources, and capacity.
  • Negotiates corrective actions to product schedules when dictated by changes in business.
  • Assists Program Management in scheduling sales orders and supporting customer requirements.
  • Revise production schedules when provided with updated information on capacity or materials.
  • Participates in forecasting/planning meetings with Business Development, Finance, and other related departments.
  • Develop strategies and work with the operations team on capacity and equipment utilization.
  • Document key information for analysis which includes downtime, peak production, inventory, and scheduling accuracy.
  • Monitor material flow, identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot issues to root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Generate reports including but not limited to production line capacity, material clear, production status, and on-time delivery. Proactively works with functional owners to review and determine root cause and deploy countermeasures for areas not meeting target.

Requirements: EDUCATION AND/OR PROFESSIONAL LICENSE(s):

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferred in Supply Chain Management or Business
  • 5 - 10 years of related experience in Production Scheduling and/or Sales Inventory and Operations Planning.
  • Supervisory or managerial experience preferred
  • Professional certification by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) preferred.
  • Experience in a regulated industry a plus, medical device, automotive, aerospace

EXPERIENCE:

  • A strong track record of building and maintaining models used to analyze and improve operations, particularly capacity modeling, and cost modeling.
  • You have worked closely with R&D, manufacturing, and planning teams to accurately model manufacturing processes.
  • Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite, statistical SW and generating professional documents and reports.
  • You have a demonstrated ability to understand complex manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding and familiarity with ecommerce.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • MRP and MES Systems (INFOR and/or SAP preferred)
  • Advanced MS Excel (complete statistical analysis to uncover patterns and trend, create charts from table data in various formats, perform calculations and vertical lookups, and create pivot tables from data sets)
  • Organized and pay attention to the details; you are conscientious and meticulous in your work.
  • Ability to work productively and cooperatively in a high-volume, fast paced, highly pressured environment
  • Knowledge of general accounting; production assembly procedures, techniques, and tooling; material and capacity planning and forecasting; and product bill of material procedures.
  • You are highly collaborative, inventive in finding the information you need, and comfortable when facing uncertainty or ambiguity.
  • You are an outstanding communicator and are comfortable presenting to senior leaders.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write technical reports and presentations.
  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly learn about new processes with very little information provided.
  • Must possess skills to define Root Cause and implement effective Corrective Actions.
  • Team focused with the ability to actively participate in and/or lead cross-function teams.

POSITION SUPERVISES:
This is a non-supervisory role.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS:
Internal: Position requires daily contact with local staff, peers, and Management.
External: Contact with individuals outside the facilities such as suppliers, as well as other GENTEX facilities

Employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; manual dexterity to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The individual must have a high level of comprehension, and a high level of general, verbal, and numerical intelligence
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Works in various conditions including a climate-controlled office environment as well as production and warehouse areas which can be subject to moderate changes in temperature.
