Job Summary: The Class 4 Materials Handler/Receiver performs all functions related to material handling, inventory stocking and receiving functions in support of production requirements.


Essential Job Functions & Qualifications

  • Perform physical receipt, picking, staging, replenishment, cycle-count and return of inventory to maintain accurate inventory levels and quality materials for manufacturing;
  • Able to safely and efficiently operate, LPG and electric forklifts, including conducting safety pre-checks, correctly; connecting and/or exchanging forklift batteries for non-LPG units, operating single-double lift units;
  • Perform lift truck tasks to store, retrieve, and safely stage products;
  • Ensure material is secure for safe transportation;
  • Follow all company safety rules in the physical receiving of trucks including but not limited to taking possession of driver’s keys to prevent unauthorized movement, insure chocks or dock locks are in place and working, if using a ramp, ensure safety chains are attached and secure to prevent separation from trailer;
  • Operate SAP computer-based inventory transactions using RF wireless and desktop units to accurately enter data for material receipts and exceptions, SLOC-to-SLOC, Plant-to-Plant, and Plant-to-SLOC movements, make adjustments for damage or correct system inventory data, return of excess or non-used production material to its proper storage location;
  • Provide timely service in the receipt, picking, and deployment of materials to support manufacturing process orders;
  • Receive inbound materials and supplies, carefully review for accuracy in count and description to purchase order; inspect for any damage; proper documentation and tagging of pallets and components, potential obsolescence issues, or other discrepancies. Document on bill of lading/delivery receipt, notify Purchasing, Warehouse or Production Supervisor
  • Work closely with Process Order administrators to review all process orders to ensure process order sequence in the production schedule are current and information is correct;
  • Complete physical counts as scheduled or assigned, complete documentation and enter updated information if required into SAP;
  • Monitor supply levels, alert inventory and procurement group of any discrepancies or apply use of “inventory” visual signals to indicate replenishment is required;
  • Perform other material handling and/or forklift duties or projects as assigned by Supervisor.


Position Requirements

  • Possess Forklift license issued by S. Martinelli & Company;
  • Attention to detail with ability to accurately identify, document and correct discrepancies;
  • Able to perform root-cause analysis when problems arise;
  • Complete all required documentation using assigned production and receiving sheets daily as required;
  • Service oriented attitude with ability to multi-task and remain highly flexible to production schedule changes;
  • Flexible to work shifts, weekends and overtime as required;
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance, including timeliness.
  • 1-2 years experience in a fast-paced food manufacturing/production environment.
  • Ability to work all shifts.
  • Must meet employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.


Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
