Materials Engineer Job at Talascend LLC
Talascend is currently seeking a Materials Engineer for a contract opportunity in Auburn Hills, MI
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the development and implementation of fluids and lubricants which include driveline fluids like axle and transmission lubricants and coolants.
Interface with the respective Product/Powertrain engineering groups, Purchasing, Quality, & suppliers to ensure that the proper materials are specified & production procedures are properly utilized.
Coordinate certain testing for quality purposes & recommend changes to product specifications as necessary.
Work with the supplier base to coordinate the development of materials to meet functional & business targets and maintain associated Material Specifications.
Interface with other engineering groups to introduce new materials into production and root-cause quality issues associated with current production materials.
Requirements:
BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
3+ years of relevant experience (automotive fluids formulations and development)
Familiarity with fuels, refrigerants.
Preferred Qualifications:
BS or MS in chemical/material engineering or organic chemistry from an ABET accredited University.
Experience in automotive fluids formulations and development specifically for drivetrain applications and coolant.
Ability to perform or analyze chemistry lab test results as part of engineering problem solving.
Program management capability to organize short and long term fluid development projects and assist in the implementation of preferred practices for fluid applications.
