Leads personnel in maintaining and coordinating activities involved with controlling goods such as raw materials (full sheets and remnants), finished goods, hardware, and supplies for organization by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following for associates. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains all current, incoming, and outgoing components and paperwork in the ERP system
  • Coordinates and manages weekly physical cycle counts and ensures the correct levels are reflected in the ERP system
  • Helps to ensures that inventory areas are kept organized so that on-hand materials are readily identified by grade, thickness, size, etc.
  • Arranges for disposal of surplus materials
  • Assist in delivering inventory to production or staging areas as dictated by job requirements
  • Ensures all remnants are labeled correctly, returned to the proper inventory location and processed in the ERP system
  • Inspects for defective or unacceptable goods with assistance from quality control personnel if needed to determine source of trouble and take corrective action
  • Schedules pickups and deliveries from various vendors
  • Performs duties with little to no supervision
  • All other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the shift. Directly supervises all non-supervisory personnel within the shift in the material and shipping departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Requires a minimum of 3 years of production shipping, receiving or inventory control experience (in a manufacturing steel environment preferred)
  • Must have accurate administrative skills and an eye for details in catching errors
  • Good problem-solving skills in math
  • Must have the ability to learn, understand and apply 5S standards to the inventory area
  • Ability to read and speak English
  • Must have basic knowledge of the metric & imperial (fraction & decimals) systems
  • Must have working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
  • Ability to maneuver up to 200 lbs. independently
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. without assistance
  • Requires a thorough working knowledge of metals (re: types, grades, specifications) within 30 days of independent training
  • Ability to read tape measure (English & Metric) and dial/digital calipers
  • ERP JobBoss experience preferred

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree from two-year college or technical school or three years of equivalent work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
