MAVA VISTA Leader Job at AmeriCorps
Are you passionate about fighting inequality to end poverty? Do you enjoy supporting and guiding people to achieve their goals? As MAVA's VISTA Leader, you will mentor our dynamic group of VISTA members, as they develop volunteer programming that addresses economic, education, and health inequity across Minnesota. Minnesota Alliance for Volunteer Advancement (MAVA) is a nonprofit association for people who lead volunteers in Minnesota. We connect, educate, strengthen and advocate for volunteer engagement leaders and their organizations to positively impact communities. With host sites across the state, our VISTA program helps organizations develop, expand, or improve volunteer programming that connects Minnesotans to the resources they need to move out of poverty. Our host sites have projects that focus on their communities' needs in the areas of: child and youth development, food security, sexual health, housing security, school readiness, and financial security. As the VISTA Leader you will receive your certification in volunteer leadership, learn about the evolving field of volunteer engagement, network with local and national leaders in the field, and contribute your creativity to a small, fun nonprofit. MAVA is an intermediary VISTA program that recruits host sites and VISTA members year-round. As the VISTA Leader you will mentor up to 16 VISTA members throughout the year. You will also do data analysis, report writing, curriculum development, conduct program management activities, and will help develop program sustainability practices. You will work closely with MAVA's 10 person staff as a vital team member in our small non-profit team helping us expand volunteer engagement while working to eliminate poverty. In exchange for your service, you will receive $1,534/month, choice of a $6,495 education award or $3,000 end of service stipend, plus other benefits.
