The Co-Op will work within the Consulting Engineering Department out of the Marietta, GA location. The primary focus will be on assisting engineering personnel in the inspection and assessment of tanks, vessels, piping, and other API and ASME components, and the associated reporting and documentation. This position will report to the Consulting Engineering Manager.

This is a rotation program of full-time work rotating with full-time school for three total working semesters. Must be eligible and willing to work the full three semesters in conjunction with the school cooperative education program to qualify.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Writing reports and performing engineering analyses and calculations for storage tanks, pressure vessels, and piping in accordance with industry codes and standards under the direction of engineering personnel.
• Assisting engineers and inspectors with the field inspection of tanks, pressure vessels, and piping for compliance with standards and regulations and ensures quality control and compliance.
• Reviewing equipment records, reports, and drawings for reporting analysis.
• Assisting in the organization and upkeep of the reporting file system.

  Applicants must be currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or in a directly related field.
• Up to 50% travel may be required.
• Applicants must have experience in Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD.
• Ability to occasionally work more than 40 hours per week during the full-time work rotation.
• Ability and willingness to work in heavy industrial environments such as paper mills and chemical plants. Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection. Must be able to meet the physical demands of climbing ladders and scaffolds as well as being able to get into confined spaces
• Must have strong organizational skills, an understanding of material properties, and knowledge of how materials react when undergoing a range of stresses and forces.
• Must have excellent technical writing skills and the ability to create technical documents providing Clients with the results of engineering analyses.

• This Co-op program has the potential to lead to full-time employment.
• Prior military service is a plus.
• Industrial experience is a plus.
• Experience with SolidWorks is a plus.
