Job Title: Hospital Biller (Commercial Follow-Up) in Norwood, OH
Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our healthcare organization as a Hospital Biller specializing in commercial follow-up. As a Hospital Biller, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely billing for services provided, optimizing revenue cycles, and effectively communicating with insurance companies and patients. This position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $18 to $23, commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze patient medical records to verify the accuracy and completeness of billing information for commercial insurance claims.
- Utilize electronic billing systems and software to generate and submit claims to commercial insurance providers within established deadlines.
- Conduct thorough and timely follow-up on outstanding claims, denials, and underpayments to ensure maximum reimbursement.
- Collaborate with insurance companies to resolve claim rejections, discrepancies, and other billing issues, including submitting appeals when necessary.
- Communicate with patients and insurance companies via phone, email, or mail to obtain missing information, clarify billing inquiries, and resolve outstanding balances.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all billing-related activities, including interactions with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, coding changes, and insurance policies to ensure compliance and accurate billing practices.
- Collaborate with the billing team, including coding specialists and other billers, to identify and address common billing issues and improve overall efficiency.
- Assist with other billing and administrative tasks as needed to support the revenue cycle management process.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in hospital billing, specifically in commercial follow-up, is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems, billing software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities to identify and resolve billing discrepancies and denials.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare professionals.
- Understanding of insurance claim submission and reimbursement processes.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
