POSITION SUMMARY

The Medical Scheduler is a position with specific responsibilities to COG patients. This person plays a key role in enhancing the efficiency and positive experience of those patients whose care and treatment require further testing or procedures following their physician evaluation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Patients needing to schedule further testing or procedures are directed to meet with the Scheduler for the purpose of scheduling the ordered test, or procedure.
  • The Scheduler verifies the test or procedure being ordered, and confirms that the patient has no medical conditions that would preclude the test or procedure being performed.
  • The Scheduler makes appointment consistent with clinic or hospital scheduling protocols.
  • The primary focus of this position is to schedule tests and procedures for patients who are in the clinic following their physician appointment, as well as those patients who were seen in clinic but had to leave prior to scheduling their test or procedure.
  • Responsible for being current on continuing education regarding all aspects of the business policies and procedures of the Columbia Orthopaedic Group.
  • Proficient knowledge of clinic policies, physician appointment protocols, and business office guidelines is required.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience: Two to four years related experience

Computer Skills:

Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in using the practice management software used by COG.

Other Requirements: Medical terminology, preferably with specific knowledge of orthopedics.
