Job Title: Medical Support Staff

Department: Santa Barbara Sobering Center

Pay: $20-22

Open Shifts:

• Tuesday/Thursday 8am-4pm
• Friday- Monday 12am-8am
• Wednesday/Thursday 4pm-12am

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Complete and maintain accurate records or reports regarding the clients histories, progress, services provided, and other required information.
• Monitor clients assuring they are safe and provided with compassionate care.
• Provide administrative support as needed, such as reviewing or submitting paperwork, organizing and maintaining files, gathering and inputting data.
• Provide triage assessment for client medical needs
• Regular and frequent monitoring of vital signs (pulse, temperature, respiration)and recording information.
• Prepares meals and snacks for clients and ensures the facility is well maintained.
• Transporting clients as required.
• Knowledge of symptoms consistent with substance abuse and withdrawal.
• Participate in case conferences or staff meetings.
• Experience with Trauma Informed care and de-escalation techniques.

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Education in the medical field, medical terminology and/or work experience.
• EMT Certification, CNA or Medical Assistant Certification

Language Skills

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write or type simple correspondence. Ability to use basic computer functions. Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Valid California Driver’s License required

• Must pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening according to Federal Guidelines and TB test is required.
