Mine Engineers at Lannon Stone manage mine development projects, perform short-range, long-range, and LOM planning, and optimize production processes to ensure continual improvement and long-term profitability. We are looking for an entry-level mine engineer with experience using mine planning software (Carlson preferred) who wants to develop their skillset in process optimization and mine site development.

Life of Mine Planning

  • Perform land surveys to establish and maintain accurate digital models of all mine sites
  • Determine optimal mining sequences that lower haulage costs and keep plants fed with appropriate material
  • Optimize haulage routes for plant production and overburden removal
  • Develop long-term overburden & plant waste storage plans
  • Develop long-term pit/quarry development plans in partnership with other LSP staff and outside contractors

Process Optimization*

  • Analyze all quality control reports, and develop plans with staff to improve quality
  • Analyze all plant bottleneck reports, and develop plans with production staff to improve uptime
  • Compare actual plant production to modeled production, identifying and addressing variances
  • Develop plans with production staff to eliminate production capacity gaps

Project Management*

  • Plan & manage mine development projects, from facility construction to earthmoving
  • Solicit and compare quotes, selecting contractors & consultants to complete mine site development projects such as tree removal, stripping, plant modification & construction,
  • Coordinate with internal management and project crews to complete mine site development
  • Coordinate with contractors and consultants to ensure the successful completion of projects
  • Keep an accurate record of past and upcoming work

  • A degree in mine engineering

Working Environment
Up to 50% of time spent in an office with exposure to manufacturing environments around industrial equipment. Up to 50% of time spent in manufacturing environments around industrial equipment. Environment will be dusty and at times experience loud noises with exposure to miscellaneous industrial odors. Work may require travel within the day to other locations. Hours are negotiable and based on the needs of the business.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
