Our organization is seeking a Behavioral Health Therapist- Mobile Crisis with the corresponding degree/experience requirements:

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position requires the clinician to work as a member of a mobile crisis team providing community-based crisis prevention and intervention to a wide variety of individuals having various types of behavioral health challenges. The clinician will be required to work with other community agencies, including local law enforcement and hospitals, in the prevention of psychiatric hospitalization, detention by law enforcement, and discharge of individuals from state or local psychiatric hospitals. All services must be provided under the general supervision of the Mobile Crisis Team Supervisor and be conducted in accordance with current agency policies and procedures relating to crisis and prescreening services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Will be expected to collaborate and liaison with law enforcement officers, local hospitals, medical providers, outpatient providers, and others in the planning, provision, and evaluation of these services.

· Provide home-based and outreach services as needed, with an emphasis on culturally competent services; make appropriate referrals to internal and external sources.

· 24/7/ on-call availability and flexible work schedule to attend to consumer visits during both traditional and non-traditional hours.

• Provide outpatient therapy to children and adolescents who present with a Serious Emotional Disturbance and their families with the flexibility of meeting clients in a confidential office environment, home environment or arrangement with a client on where to meet.
• Empower clients and their families through incorporating the person-centered planning process throughout treatment.
• Utilize Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Play Therapy and forms of brief therapy.
• Have an understanding of managed care and be able to test as reliable for the CAFAS (Child and Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale), PECFAS (Pre-School Children Functional Assessment Scale) and LOCUS (Level of Care Utilization System)
• Work with the consumer and their families in conjunction with school systems, court systems, Department of Health and Human Services, other programs at BFDI and agencies.
• Provide support, education, and service coordination to significant others on behalf of individuals who are receiving services from the Mobile Crisis Team.
• Knowledgeably utilize the DSM V and basic psychometric tools such as the genogram and ecomap as well as other tools.
• Provide assistance with scheduling appointments to receive psychiatric or psychological evaluations as needed and attend specific appointments to ensure compliance of physician recommendations.
• Participate in weekly clinical supervision.
• Complete billing and progress notes thoroughly and timely.
• Maintain case records and related data entries, services provided logs, reports, forms, etc. according to established policies and procedures.
• Make appropriate referrals and follow-up, particularly to coordinate care for co-occurring consumers.
• Provide consumer transportation as needed.
• Perform advocacy services and links family with supports.
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, workshops, and conferences to fulfill required annual CEU’s, licensures, and contemporary knowledge of field.
• Assists in maintaining an up-to-date Crisis Resource Directory
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

• Considerable knowledge of adult, adolescent, and geriatric mental health and substance abuse treatment and service needs
• Mental health treatment experience
• License to provide clinical services
• Working knowledge of medications used in the treatment of psychiatric disorders

• Basic knowledge of voluntary and involuntary admission to state facilities such as local jails or correctional facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field; licensed by the State of Michigan; experience in family work, in-home human services, and crisis intervention; individual, family, and group counseling; comprehensive assessment and diagnostic skills; time management; report and case note writing skills; strong engagement and empowering skills; determination to see families excel with provided resources.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
