The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) is the largest public transit agency in Iowa. dart provides resources for those who vanpool, walk, or bike. POSITION SUMMARY: Wage Range - $16.50 to $20.50
The Money Room & Office Courier performs a wide variety of duties within the office environment and externally within the community. This position often works independently or as a lead during the fare collection process as well as delivering packages between both DART facilities. Additionally, there are ongoing requests from staff that require this position to pick up or drop off items such as supplies, bank change orders and/or time sensitive documents.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Collect cash bills, coins, tokens, and check fares from farebox vaults and prepare for armored car pick up.
- Prepare daily related deposit documents.
- Assist in returned deposit issues.
- Coordinate the pick-up of coin, cash and tokens from DART with armored car service.
- Coordinate with Customer Experience Department to do change orders with contracted bank throughout the work week.
- Collect postal mail, interoffice mail, and other small packages from each DART location and deliver it to the recipient.
- Pick up or delivering of ad hoc items when as needed.
- Coordinate with Customer Experience Department in the pickup/drop off and reporting of Pass Sales Outlets (PSO’s).
- Maintain the DART vehicle assigned to this position in generally good condition.
- Communicate with Maintenance Department if there are any issues needing addressed.
- Assist with food delivery to staff during Iowa State Fair services.
- Assist with the interoffice delivery of other larger items when able- i.e. schedules, printer paper, etc.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma is required.
- One (1) year of experience within a cash handling environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of operating simple machinery such money vaults and cash counters.
Skills or Ability to:
- Ability to add, audit, balance, check, code, count, divide, enter, group, itemize, list match, multiply, post, reconcile, sort, subtract, tabulate, total and verify various transactions into accounts and numerical records through application of established arithmetic or bookkeeping procedures.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding, problem solve and make independent decisions of the work processes, procedures, programs and services required in order to carry out general, written or oral instructions effectively.
- Ability to maintain and develop working relationships with customers and agency staff.
- Ability to operate personal computers, smart phones, and current office software programs for word processing and basic spreadsheets.
- Ability to operate an agency vehicle in a safe manner.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities but will act as a lead within the Money Room.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
On a normal work day, this position requires:
- Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, stooping.
- Extensive use of hands, fingers and arms in operations requiring continuous handling of coin, dollars, and paper documents.
- The ability to hear normal verbal conversation with or without corrective devices to communicate with co-workers and customers.
- The ability to speak, read, and write the English language clearly and concisely.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position involves a diverse work environment that includes but is not limited to an office setting, working in inclement weather (including operating a vehicle during non-ideal conditions), and light industrial settings with heightened noise.
