Preferred Degree Types and Experience:
Proven, relevant and current acquisition and/or operational experience with the US NC3 communities is strongly desired. Requires a technical background to ensure business decisions can be vetted and optimal solutions are presented to potential customers. This job requires both strategic and tactical capabilities and requires substantial leadership in customer relationship management and market analysis, as well as an ability to work independently.

Responsibilities for this Position:
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a passionate, experienced Strategy and Business Development Director (SBDD) for the
Nuclear Command, Control, & Communications (NC3) market. The SBDD will lead the customer relationship building and market assessment activities for the NC3 initiatives at General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS), including cultivating key U.S Government customers and industry partners, performing competitive and market assessments, and leading the development of long-range strategic plans. The SBDD reports to the GDMS Strategic Systems Strategy and Business Development Director (SBDD) in the
Strategic Systems Business Area of the
Maritime & Strategic Systems (M&SS) Line of Business. The SBDD will support the Business Area Segment Director within the growing
NC3 business segment, working in tandem with other business developers in the business area.

Specific responsibilities include:
- Partners with the NC3 Business Segment Director (P&L) and the NC3 team
- Develops customer relationships, builds strong customer partnerships, and represents GDMS and provides thought leadership to the broad customer community
- Identifies, shapes, and recommends new business opportunities and wins new relevant business across the DoD NC3 market to meet the established business growth goals
- Establish a presence at key customer locations. 40%-50% travel with ability to conduct business independently and professionally throughout market, including customer sites in Omaha, Massachusetts, Shreveport, and the greater DC area, as well as others as required.
- Formulates strategies and plans to acquire new business, assists in the development of short and long-range marketing plans
- Performs administrative, analytical and research activities in support of the business development, strategic planning, proposal development and marketing functions
- Assists in gathering data on competitors and analyzes their prices and methods of operation
- Analyzes and researches customer information, product/service preferences, market size, penetration, marketing practices and trends
- Exercises creative thinking and idea generation to advance our business performance
- Delivers innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers’ changing mission needs
- Follows industry trends and pursues technology innovation to ensure GDMS’ offerings are cost competitive and superior to industry leading capabilities and best practices
- Participates in promotional activities and trade shows, working with developers, advertisers, and production managers, to market products and services
- Creates a culture of team success and ongoing business and personal goal achievement
- The position is remote, but Omaha, NE, is preferred. Other relevant locations include eastern MA (greater Boston area), Shreveport, LA, or the greater DC area.
