Responsibilities


The NPI Manufacturing Engineering Intern will work with multiple manufacturing engineers, across a range of projects, to help move our new products from the early prototype stage, into pilot line production and final transfer to our contract manufacturer. This work will include:

  • Participating in the build of various electro-mechanical assemblies to help develop the assembly process flow and identify any assembly risks that may lead to product failures
  • Creating detailed assembly process documents that will be used by our pilot production teams and contract manufacturers to assemble our products
  • Working with the lead manufacturing engineer to identify and develop assembly and test tools used in the building of our products
  • Assist in the evaluation of product assembly issues and collaborate with other groups to develop solutions to correct or resolve the issue
  • Assisting in the completion of other department projects


Basic Qualifications & Skills


  • Good mechanical aptitude with an eagerness to comprehend how things go together and to offer ideas for improvements
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and the ability to read and follow assembly instructions
  • Ability to create parts and assemblies in SolidWorks. Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM a plus
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite of tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work full time, on-site, in our North Reading, MA headquarters
  • Available for a fall 2023 coop (July-Dec with flexibility if needed).


Education


Minimum: Second semester, junior year mechanical engineering student with completed course work in strengths of material, manufacturing processes and other mechanical engineering introductory course work
