Security Guard Minimum Requirements

• One year of previous experience in facility security services preferred
• Previous experience in a senior living setting also preferred
• Must be able to exercise good judgment in emergency situations
• Competency in organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
• Must possess strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills and enjoy working with seniors
• Ability to read, comprehend, write, and speak English to interpret written instructions such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, and to communicate effectively with residents, families, and other team members
• Must have basic computer skills, including Word and Excel
• Have the strength and endurance required for standing, walking, bending, lifting and pushing
• Must meet all health-related requirements pertaining to state licensure
• Must maintain current CPR/First Aid credentials
• Subject to pre-employment screening including physical, drug and TB testing and criminal background check

Security Guard Essential Functions of the position

• Routinely makes walking rounds throughout each building and the entire grounds of the community observing for any non-routine items, individuals, or occurrences that may interfere with normal community operations during non-business hours
• Makes verbal contact with each night team member routinely throughout the shift, ensuring that everything is in order in each area of the community
• Responds to the needs of residents, families, visitors, and team members by providing immediate assistance
• Documents findings of rounds in the Security Log Book, noting anything observed that was non-routine in nature
• In coordination with a Care Partner, provides hands-on transfer assistance on the infrequent occasion where a resident requires two person transfer assistance during night-time hours
• Answers resident emergency call system
• Provides back-up assistance to community team members during building or resident emergencies including first aid and call emergency medical assistance or other urgent resident situations
