Nurse Coordinator Job at Parkvue Community
Parkvue Community is seeking a Nursing Unit Supervisor to join our team! This position is responsible for overseeing the function of all the STNAs and other nurses during the shift; and for ensuring that all nursing tasks are completed efficiently and effectively according to the policies and practices of United Church Homes (UCH), in order to deliver quality resident care.
Essential Functions Include
- Supervises the shift and all its functions
- Ensures shift completes duties on time, filling in for unfinished tasks so as to avoid overtime
- Oversees scheduling for shift, and acts as a contact person for shift call-offs
- Assists STNAs and assigned nurses with all functions of shift duties
- Ensures STNAs develop hands-on skills necessary to complete work in a timely and efficient manner
- Orients all STNAs to all shift procedures
- Trains STNAs and nurses on electronic charting, medical records, etc.
- Completes rounds regularly to ensure all is well with residents
- Oversees all charting to ensure accuracy
- Checks vital signs and performs Accuchecks
- Audits the nursing carts, including sign-off's, and keeps carts stocked and cleaned
- Review scripts for narcotics and writes scripts for doctors
- Orders and separates medications as required
- Cooperates with hospitals regarding new admissions and specific care information
- Completes performance evaluations and other performance management for assigned staff
- Conducts staff meetings as necessary
- Offers and implements quality improvement suggestions
- Acts as liaison between nurses, STNAs, Staff Relations and Director of Nursing
- Completes the change-over's each month, ensuring all resident data is current and updated in the system
- Manages resident to resident altercations, making initial decisions on how to assess the situation
Qualifications
- Nursing diploma, with management/leadership classes required: Required
- One (1) year of nursing experience with some supervisory experience required
- Must be able to proficiently use a computer, the Internet, Microsoft office, other relevant software (including electronic medical records), and basic office equipment
- RN or LPN certification required; CPR training required; Must obtain and maintain mandatory, state/federal requirements and certifications for practice or occupation
