Salary Range: $16.93/hour

Job Summary: Provide direct patient care in an ambulatory setting including rooming patients, taking vital signs, performing approved technical skills, maintaining equipment, stock levels and supplies.

Detailed Description of duties:

Confirm the purpose for each visit, verify patient information by interviewing the patients, reviewing and/or recording medical history, completing the clinic visit form, taking vital signs and documenting this information in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

Prepare patients for the health care visit by providing examination gowns and drapes; positioning patients for examination and/or treatment; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.

Demonstrate the ability to organize workload and manage multiple tasks. Prompt responsiveness to patient needs and delivery of messages to care team.

Support care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on specimens; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; preparing patients for x-rays; taking electrocardiograms; changing dressings, remove IVs, point of care glucose testing, and maintain quality control checks.

Maintain stock levels and order clinic supplies; keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

Consistently communicate in a professional and courteous manner.


Qualifications


Requires certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or

Has completed a fundamentals of nursing course, or

A professional or practical nursing licensure candidate who failed to pass the state licensure examinations in the past three (3) years; or

Has completed a professional or licensed practical nursing program outside the United States and is awaiting the licensure examination in this country; or

Has documented experience with direct patient care such as a nursing assistant, emergency medical technicians or surgical technician in the past three (3) years; or

Has proof of completion of an unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) training program in Missouri or another state within the last three (3) years.

Requires strong customer service team orientation.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.

This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in an

ambulatory setting associated with an academic health system. Hours are established by each clinic but are

generally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. Work during inclement weather will be required.
