This position will be in support of the Consortium for Health and Military Performance in the Department of Military and Emergency Medicine at the Uniformed Services University for the Health Sciences.

Responsibilities:

HJF is seeking a Nutrition and Dietary Supplement Education Specialist to support work across the Operation Supplement Safety (OPSS), and Nutrition teams. The main responsibility is translating relevant nutrition science research into practical resources using practical resources (evidence-based articles, infographics, and social media content). The Nutrition and Dietary Supplement Education Specialist will tailor dietary supplement ingredient information to the unique needs of the military, to optimize performance and promote and maintain health. The Nutrition and Dietary Supplement Education Specialist will assist with CHAMP outreach events.


First of three levels of Nutritionists. This level is characterized by assisting with the review of literature and translating it to create educational resources. This position will report to the Director of Operation Supplement Safety and will work with other Nutritionists at CHAMP, as well as other CHAMP staff.


Responsibilities

  • Research and writes answers to dietary supplement and nutrition-related questions asked by Service Members, healthcare providers, military leaders, and civilians via the Ask the Expert function on the OPSS.org and HPRC-online.org websites.
  • Reviews and translates scientific literature on dietary supplements/nutrition topics under the direction of the OPSS Director and write articles for the OPSS website. Summarize literature findings as needed.
  • Under the supervision of the OPSS Director, writes various content and follows trending topics surrounding dietary supplements.
  • Assist the OPSS Team with other special projects as needed.
  • Creates and maintains spreadsheets as needed for various tasks.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with evaluation and interpretation of the scientific literature.
  • Ability to write articles, mostly at consumer level but also at health professional level.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and be able to multitask on several topics/assignments.
  • Experience with military nutrition, research literacy, and biochemistry/chemistry strongly desired.

Qualifications:
Work Environment
  • This position will take place primarily in a remote office setting.
Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in Nutrition (excluding Food Service), Nutritional Biochemistry, or related field required.

  • Minimum of 0 to 2 years experience required
Compensation
The likely salary range for this position is $40,000 USD to $55,000 USD annually based on a 40-hour work week. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensations or salary. Final salary will be determined based on market analysis, experience, and education.
