We are seeking an Office Specialist 2 to join our Child Nutrition Team the
Oregon Department of Education
. This is a permanent full time position represented by the
Service Employees International Union
.
A hybrid work schedule will be considered in filling this position. The ability to report to Salem is required when business or operational needs are dependent on onsite activities.

What you will do!
The Office Specialist 2 will work closely with Child Nutrition Programs staff in administering the Child Nutrition Programs (CNP). This position keeps the managers and program director informed of program activities and potential problems/concerns to assure the program needs are met and actively participates in team meetings.
Typical Duties Include:

Providing secretarial and clerical support to Child Nutrition Team.

Proving technical support and information to sponsors on National School Lunch Program (NSLP), Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), USDA Foods and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).

Screening incoming calls and mail and maintaining electronic and manual records, logs, and documentation.

Processing program applications and renewals.

What are we looking for?
Two years of general clerical experience, one year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents
OR
An Associate's degree
OR
Graduation from a private school of business with a certificate AND one year of general clerical experience.
Desired Attributes:
Candidates who are the most competitive will possess a compelling combination of the following background, skills, and experience:

Experience providing secretarial and office support including screening incoming communications and maintaining electronic and manual records, logs, and documentation.

Familiarity with computer software programs such as Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Smartsheet, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, webinar software, and virtual meeting software such as Teams and Zoom.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to respond to routine and non-routine issues with diplomacy and tact.

Experience working in a fast paced environment and ability to multitask, independently manage time and task prioritization with attention to detail.

Ability to provide customer service and technical assistance to internal and external partners professionally and accurately.

Experience working with a positive and professional approach and ability to maintain a work environment that is respectful and accepting of diversity among team members and the people served.

Experience and interest in learning how to use program specific applications such as CNP Web.

Salary Range: The range listed is the Non-PERS salary range. Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) participating members will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay a 6% employee contribution to PERS.
