Are you looking to use your passion and compassion for nursing to help some of the most vulnerable youth in our society? Morning Star Boys’ Ranch is looking for an on-call triage Registered Nurse to assist our residential foster care youth who believes in the mission of answering God’s call to love and serve those in need.

Since 1957, Morning Star Boys’ Ranch has provided safe and compassionate residential care to boys in need and their families. We are passionate about improving the strength of our community through support and guidance of our residents. Our Residential Treatment Program on the South Hill in Spokane, Washington is home to up to 23 boys between the ages of 6 and 13.

Position Overview:

Provide direct support of residential staff to triage low volume of incoming calls with a variety of clinical questions and needs. Uses accepted medical protocols to assist staff in determining the appropriate level of care for the boys from answering healthcare inquiries to emergent care. Determines priority of care based upon physical and mental health needs of our youth.

Share monthly on-call schedule with other nursing staff.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

  • Participates in on-call nursing activities for the entire resident population aged 6-13 years old.
  • Liaison with resident pediatric psychiatrist for individual medication management, as well as affiliated pharmacy to facilitate medication changes in a timely fashion.
  • Performs intake documentation for new residents through interviews with residents and physical assessment. Recommend treatment options based on assessment.
  • Conducts exit interviews for residents transitioning out through interviews and physical assessment. Completes documentation of findings.
  • Conducts assessment of any resident with illness or injury as needed. Completes physical examination and determine appropriate course of action for the resident’s presenting need. Provides complete documentation and communication of findings and recommended treatment options based on assessment.
  • Acts a resource to other staff regarding nursing matters.
  • Must maintain active Washington State RN licensure.
Requirements:


Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from accredited registered nursing program
  • Current Washington State RN licensure
  • One year experience working as an RN

Salary: $50 per day when on call and $40 per hour while working onsite
