Job Description
This position has high responsibilities for Great Basin College OnBase and (SIS) Student Information System including OnBase administration, development, security and Student System security updates (SACR), trouble shoot technical/functional issues, testing of bundles and enhancements. The incumbent must have the ability to communicate effectively with academic, administrative, other departments and mainframe support personnel, as well as have the technical and analytical skills to plan, schedule and implement the responsibilities and activities of the aforementioned.
The incumbent often receives requests in a time frame (under pressure). These requests come from internal administrators, other college departments and from external sources (NSHE System Office, SCS/SIS, State Department of Education, etc.).
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required. Degree must be from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
  • The incumbent must have knowledge of relational databases and electronic document storage and processing systems, PeopleSoft and OnBase (with a OnBase System Administration Certification and OnBase Workflow System Administration Certification preferred) or Enterprise Management System or Enterprise Resource Planning system experience or equivalent. Experience in workflow and document management systems preferred.
  • Knowledge is used to plan, organize and execute processes that may include, term set up, close of term, registration and setup, etc. class schedule and grade processing, business processing analysis when needed. This skilled knowledge is directly related to the successful operation of OnBase and PeopleSoft. To assure accuracy the individual is required to have strong communication, organizational, technical, analytical, database functional and problem-solving skills, be able to optimize business processes with various college departments and have strong presentation skills.
  • Computer programming skills are required for coding and a variety of specialized report requests. Logical (critical) thinking and some skill in the area of mathematics is necessary.
  • The individual needs to be able to respond to issues concerning PeopleSoft user, security, student records functionality, transcripts, class schedule, GPA calculation, number of credits, etc.
  • The individual needs to be able to respond to issues concerning the OnBase end user. Participates in the Shared Instance OnBase group and various college and department meetings.
  • The incumbent must also be familiar with relational databases, general internet usage, MS office (heavily using MS Word and MS Excel), general email application, etc.
  • Travel to other cities to attend meetings regarding PeopleSoft users and system wide meetings is required.
Responsibilities:
  • In the event of error, students may not be able to register or class fee refunds may be wrong, statistics may be wrong, GPA calculations may be off, etc. Errors in the student information system have far reaching effects on the students and the college as a whole including impacts to Financial Aid, Student Financials, and enrollment reporting.

  • May assist with departmental supervision and supervision of systems processes rollout to users. Communicates all critical issues to immediate supervisor, adhering to deadlines, discuss and determine goals and professional growth; successfully address and resolves issues; determines level of OnBase and PeopleSoft security provisioning.
  • Researches new procedures for efficiencies and effectiveness and suggests new policies to higher management to better serve our students.
  • Assists with security access of Student Records and other modules as appropriate. Helps to decide or change appropriate access for users including staff, students and faculty in PeopleSoft including SACR.
  • Assists with analyzing and testing system enhancements or changes quarterly as bundles are applied to PeopleSoft by SCS to the Shared Instance database.
  • Actively serves and participates on various GBC and NSHE committees and back up for others on some committees.
  • Maintains and updates departmental documentation.
  • Trains various college staff on changing processes and features in OnBase and PeopleSoft.
Salary and Benefits:
Annual salary range is $53,805 - $68,000 commensurate with experience and education.
GBC is NOT able to support Visa applications for employment at the college. Applicants must already be eligible to work in the United States to be considered.
Nevada System of Higher Education benefits package includes a 401(a) defined contribution retirement plan with employees contributing 15.50 % and a matching 15.50% from the employer, medical/dental/vision plan, benefit time, 11 paid holidays, and tuition waiver at Nevada System of Higher Education colleges for the employee and family. There is no state income tax in Nevada.

Newly hired faculty must assure that their official transcripts are sent by the degree granting institution(s) to Great Basin College Human Resources Office within 30 days from the effective date of employment. Regionally accredited institutions must have awarded academic degrees.
