Summary of Position
The Custodial Operations Manager, Environmental Services oversees the 3rd shift custodial operations by providing leadership & guidance; shift planning & direction; scheduling for assigned ENVS staff performing cleaning and floor care functions; fiscal responsibility; supply inventory control; work-order and event management; proper file maintenance; disciplinary & appraisal procedures. Position manages over 30 staff and shares the workload with additional supervisors and lead positions.

General Purpose of Position
The Custodial Operations Manager, Environmental Services oversees the 3rd shift custodial operations by providing leadership & guidance; shift planning & direction; scheduling for assigned ENVS staff performing cleaning and floor care functions; fiscal responsibility; supply inventory control; work-order and event management; proper file maintenance; disciplinary & appraisal procedures. Position manages 30 staff and shares the workload with additional supervisors and lead position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage all 3rd shift custodial and floor care needs through appropriate scheduling practices. Assign staff accordingly for the quick expedition of all maintenance related work-orders. Conduct appropriate follow-up where and when necessary.
Become knowledgeable and understanding of the TMA work-order system.
Manage assigned custodial staff and floor crews and, as necessary, sanitation/recycling drivers in order to assure the University’s high standards for cleaning are maintained.
Through proper orientation guidelines, train all new personal and as necessary, existing personnel, in cleaning procedures and methods with products currently used by the ENVS department to ensure the completion of assigned tasks in the proper time frame.
Train and manage proper use of equipment and maintenance of equipment.
Promote, train and manage proper recycling procedures
Perform routine and random cleaning audits in buildings & custodial closets, making notation on cleaning needs and or finding exceptional work being performed. Conduct routine and random inspections of work crews to ensure safe work practices are being followed.
Maintain accurate time sheets, sick time and vacation time. Schedule ENVS crews for special events and coordinate vacation scheduling.
Oversee the request for supplies as necessary for assigned areas and manage the proper methods for supply order sheets from staff and enter requests after a thorough critique of needs.
Maintain significant occurrence forms accordingly and conduct annual staff evaluations.
Routinely work weekends and special events. Position shift will be but not limited to: Sunday–Thursday from 10:00pm – 6:30am shift. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Environmental Services or through the work order system may dictate additional assignment needs.


Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of five years related supervisory experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, procedural guides and correspondence in the English language. Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees of the University.
