Operator III, Packaging Job at Boehringer Ingelheim
Responsible for tasks related to the packaging of the product. The operator is responsible for packing the product correct, using materials and printed components for different presentations. The tasks include operating equipment, performing manual activities, and inspecting components and final product. It also includes equipment and area cleaning and housekeeping, as well as documentation, data entry, and use of computerized systems. The operator must follow written procedures – SOPs – and comply with cGMPs, safety and environmental rules and guidelines. It is expected that he/she participates in inspections and audits regarding cGMPs, Quality, Safety and Environmental. Production activities include quality sampling as part of the packaging process, the materials accountability, and inventory control. The operator should demonstrate good interpersonal relationships and ability to work under minimum direct supervision and in a team environment. It is required for her/him to wear protective equipment. She/he must be available to work in rotating shifts, extended periods, and/or overtime when required.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operate, maintain in good conditions and clean the equipment used in the packaging process in the different packaging lines.
- Operate and enter relevant product information when packaged to the computerized equipment in the packaging area.
- Perform inspections and sampling of the intermediate and final product following the specifications of the sampling plans in the operational procedures for the product to be packaged.
- Provides support to other quality activities, such as assessment of the elegance test and others.
- Supply materials to the storage accumulators when assigned.
- Manages and verifies packaging components, printed components, bulk product, finished and waste products (following special precautions per product).
- Document in a clear and correct manner information and data of the packaging process for each lot.
- Post, manage and reconcile materials and waste at the end of the packaging process of each lot, registers the information and data in the documents assigned for it.
- Assist in documentation audits of packaging records and investigations of atypical events.
- Perform material reconciliation and complete documentation of usage and waste.
- Execute material transactions through the computerized system as required.
- Keep the packing lines clean, identified and organized, including hallways and the cleaning room.
- Perform major and minor cleanings in an efficiently and effectively manner following operational procedures. Document properly the cleanings in the cleaning log for each line.
- Must use the provided safety equipment. Informs the supervisor or designee of any deviations, risks or potential hazards in the area.
- Properly completes other tasks assigned by the supervisor or designee.
- Assist technical staff and other team members with qualification validations, documentation of atypical event investigations and observations, implementation of corrective actions and samplings of area, as required.
- Must keep work areas clean and safe to ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (including good equipment identification practices) and good cleaning practices.
- Provide support for process improvement or facilities aimed at reducing costs, performance and product quality.
- Follow general plant safety procedures.
- Maintain personal safety protective equipment in optimal conditions.
- Informs the dispensary of any medical conditions that may affect the good execution of the tasks. In case of any recommendation of the supervisor, the incumbent should attend the medical dispensary for an evaluation.
- Keep the metrics of the area of responsibility up to date.
- Segregate, manage and identify waste such as biomedical, non-hazardous and hazardous material. Keep regulatory documentation.
- Comply with all environmental guidelines, procedures, training, practices, and internal notification of any environmental incident.
Requirements:
- High school diploma is required.
- Associate or Bachelor degree, is preferred.
- Experience in packaging process and equipment operation is highly preferred, including inspection of printed components and product.
- Knowledge and experience working in a GMP environment, with good documentation practices, as well as product sampling and inspection is highly desirable.
- Basic knowledge of computer systems (log in, data entry).
- Basic knowledge in cGMP's & EHS regulations.
- Able to document legible, precise and clear in documents following good documentation practices and cGMPs.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Has good interpersonal relations, and exhibits teamwork.
- Proficient in Spanish (verbal and written) and basic knowledge in English (read and understand basic instructions).
- Able to perform math calculations: sum, subtract, multiplication and division, percentage, rounding.
- Able to read and interpret documents (procedures, guidelines, visuals, training material, among others)
- Able to capture, monitor, document and analyze process and/or quality inspections data.
- Able to identify and immediately respond to alarms, sounds or signals that could represent unsafe conditions in the processes and/or equipment.
Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities:
- Experience in SAP is desirable.

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
- Must be 18 years of age or older
