BASIC FUNCTION: Main contact for incoming dispatch calls. Responsible for answering questions about basic mix designs, take ready mix concrete/material orders, then enter into dispatch system. It is an expectation that you learn the customer’s preferences and specific jobsite needs and apply those consistently in a professional and accurate manner building a trusted relationship with them.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED with 1-year working experience in an office/clerical environment with multiple phone lines. Customer service experience with strong communication, organization, and time management skills are preferred. Proven ability to operate company phone lines in a professional and courteous manner, and to operate office (computer, fax, copier, phone lines) conducive to performing job responsibilities, conforming to company personnel and safety procedures and policies.

b) Knowledge of Omaha/Council Bluffs Metro Area

c) Communicate professionally, clearly and positively with customers as well as dispatch and other departments in a timely and efficient manner.

d) Reliable and consistent attendance is essential to performance in this role.

g) Ability to read, write and accurately perform basic mathematical functions.

h) Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

i) Ability to read and understand maps for the delivery area.

j) Handle tasks concurrently and perform under pressure.

Physical and mechanical stamina to complete the following frequency of tasks:

a) Safely climb up and down plant stairs, trucks, and ladders 1-2 hrs. a day.

b) Ability to sit for extended periods, occasional bending, standing, walking, kneeling, reaching and grabbing for 8-12 hours a day.

c) Work well under pressure meeting customer/project schedules 8-10+ hrs. a day.

d) Be flexible, able to work required overtime, Saturday’s, and available early mornings; based upon customer order times.

e) Specific vision requirement (with corrections) would include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

f) Ability to use hands for typing, dispatching and radio communications.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Employment must meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements. Approval of pre-employment reference check, skill assessment testing, MVR (motor vehicle report), and approval of post-offer drug/alcohol test are conditions of employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide excellent telephone and personalized customer service conforming to Platte River Concrete Co. quality, safety and professional (punctuality, reliability, language, personal hygiene, clothing, etc.) standards in a timely manner.

2. Screen calls in a professional and friendly manner and transfer through to the appropriate channels. If needed, complete messages in an accurate and detailed manner by utilizing reflective listening skills.

3. Take customers’ orders; including mix design, spacing, slump, quantity, delivery address, time of delivery and extra building products needed for jobsite. Repeat order back to customer to verify accuracy. Enter into dispatch system and have a team member double-check the order for precision.

4. Monitor weather, demand graphs, production and delivery statuses, will calls, GPS and dispatching system; suggest adjustments for delivery and/or production efficiency. Report any deviation from scheduling guidelines to dispatch immediately.

5. General knowledge of the properties, characteristics, and performance of concrete mixes, its components, additives and raw materials, this is preferred - but will train.

6. Provide accounting, clerical, and administrative support to office personnel as needed.

7. Direct any federal or state inquiries (OSHA, LB 757, Department of Labor, etc.) to Safety Director or General Manager for consultation and direction.

8. Attend company sponsored safety and training events, including certification, licensing and/ or education requirements targeted for continuing growth and development.

9. Be an example by adhering to the company’s Injury Prevention Program. Become proficient in all areas of customer service and safety to include, accident/injury reporting, technical/computer/phone operation, Hazcom (SDS), emergency exit, personal protective equipment, lifting…

10. Report any safety concerns or potential liabilities (personnel issues to include disciplinary concerns, production, maintenance, client contractor/customer, OSHA, LB 757 inspections…) to Safety Director or General Manager for consultation and direction.

11. Respect the authority of Dispatch and Management and perform any other duties assigned by them.
