Outpatient Screener- Full Time

Location: Punta Gorda, FL


Charlotte Behavioral Health Care (CBHC) is our area's largest not-for-profit provider of community-based behavioral health care, offering a full range of mental health and substance use services in Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Englewood, North Port, Sarasota, and DeSoto and Lee Counties. Position Summary

  • The position functions as an ambassador for CBHC as the initial contact for patients and referral sources.
  • The OP Screener is responsible for screening individuals seeking services for mental health, substance use, or co-occurring disorders to determine level of care and schedule appointments appropriately.
  • Screenings are conducted in-person or over the phone and concurrent, accurate documentation is a necessity.
  • This position may also require contact with individuals who are high risk in an effort to engage in services and follow-up with referral sources, when appropriate.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED with at least two (2) years' experience in the behavioral health field.
  • Understanding of telephone etiquette including strong listening skills is essential.
  • Excellent customer service, including verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively, precisely and clearly communicate with other departments, referral sources, patients, families, etc.
  • Strong computer navigation skills are a necessity
  • Ability to perform duties with emphasis on consistency, attention to detail, complete and thorough documentation, and confidentiality.
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Team-oriented but able to work independently and proactively with the ability to multi-task
