The University of Texas, Dell Medical School (DMS), is a Health Research Institute (HRI) for the Texas Children’s Mental Health Care Consortium. The program and projects of the HRI aim to address urgent mental health challenges and improve the mental health care system in Texas for children, adolescents and their families. This position will coordinate assigned outreach projects related to the Child Psychiatric Access Network (CPAN), Texas Child Health Access through Telemedicine and other related projects for the Central Texas catchment area. This position will support outreach initiatives related to psychiatric and access program, ensuring alignment with legislative, institutional, and program goals.
The candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with medical providers, ability to work independently with strong attention to detail, effective written and oral communication skill, and should possess a commitment to professional ethical and practice standards. CPAN provides one-on-one support to patient care providers that help treat behavioral health needs of families, guardians, and expectant mothers and provides access to mental health services. The TCHATT program provides telehealth services to children for brief mental health assessment and intervention.
This position will be assigned on-campus with an expectation to work on-site for some of the scheduled work week, which will require that you work and live in central Texas. Remote work will require reliable internet access and a suitable workspace free from distractions. DMS HR will contact employees to confirm location of residence and work location is allowable by UT standards. Failing to accurately report work location may result in revocation of approval of Flexible Work Arrangement and/or other disciplinary action.
Purpose
Execute and deliver on outreach strategies that elevate awareness and impact of the Child Psychiatric Access Networks (CPAN), Texas Child Health Access through Telemedicine (TCHATT), and other related programs and initiatives which are aimed at improving mental health access and care for children and adolescents in central Texas.
Responsibilities
  • Alignment with the legislative, Consortium and University strategies and under the direction of the communications and outreach lead, recruit and retain institutional partnerships such as, primary care physicians, medical practices, school districts, non-profit foundations, local mental health authorities, agencies and others to enhance program utilization and sustainability. Identify and prospect for interested institutional partners and find contact information.
  • Help to oversee requests for workshops and presentations. Plan virtual and in-person meetings and site visits by establishing agendas, purpose, attendees and organizing the necessary messaging and collateral. Plan and/or facilitate presentations, webinars, meetings, and special events.
  • With clinical guidance, represent TCHATT, CPAN and other related programs in various capacities including but not limited to tabling, resource fairs, meetings, events, and workshops. Serve as a TCHATT, CPAN and other related programs liaison to organizations to cultivate a strong mental health access network. Represent program in inter-departmental and inter-institutional engagements and visits.
  • Assist in developing, planning, and implementing an outreach programs and promotional strategies. Assist with the development of outreach and communications plans to complement statewide marketing goals. Conduct and analyze surveys and studies to determine the effectiveness of practices and the potential of new markets, and conduct research. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of activities and outreach data for reporting/auditing purposes.
  • Manage paper and promotional supply inventory, including developing estimates, organizing purchase requests and purchase orders. Assists with scheduling of faculty, doctors and staff for outreach related events, workshops, and meetings.
  • Collaborate on goals and/ or initiatives that positively influence the team's mental health access initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. At least three years of professional experience in program coordination or outreach, at least one of which is in a medical, educational, or non-profit setting. Experience executing comprehensive communications and outreach plans, managing multiple communications projects simultaneously. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications
Licensed Community Health Worker (CHW). Experience working in K-12 education setting. Experience with branding, website development, social media content, and/or graphic design. Experience with communicating complex information to diverse audiences, including high-profile stakeholders. Experience with developing, monitoring, and maintaining stakeholder engagement across multiple programs and platforms. Experience using Smartsheet or other project management platform. Knowledge of national, state, and local mental health policy.
Salary Range
$45,000 + depending on qualifications
