Parent Organizer (Part-time) Job at Kidango, Inc.

We are searching for an experienced Parent Organizer (Temporary) at our Old Warm Springs facility.

The organizer will be based remotely with regular travel to Kidango centers throughout the East and South Bay as well as Sacramento.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Co-host family engagement (40%) and empowerment (60%) events throughout the year.
  • Recruit and build an active cadre of parent leaders to engage in advocacy at the state and local level
  • Engage parents during outreach, training and leadership development opportunities for parent leaders and Kidango staff
  • Gather compelling stories and testimonials from parents
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships and regular communication with parent leaders, teachers, center directors, staff.
  • Support and prepare parent leaders to meet with elected officials, testify at legislative hearings, and communicate with the media and key stakeholders
  • Support the Implementation of organizational outreach and organizing plans
  • Support the Advocacy and Communications teams by providing social media and web content
  • Maintain confidentiality of children, families and staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • BA preferred
  • At least two years experience in grassroots organizing and volunteer mobilization
  • Passion for educational justice and experience working with and in diverse communities
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with a diversity of people and motivate

parents, colleagues and community members to take action

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively and independently on a variety of

tasks simultaneously

  • Ability to write and speak clearly and persuasively, including group facilitation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and computer proficiency
  • Knowledge of issues affecting low-income children and families
  • Experience with legislative process at the state or federal level a plus
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese strongly preferred
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel weekly to Kidango sites in the East and South Bay, with occasional travel to Sacramento

Company Wide Job Requirements:

  • Must provide proof of vaccination for Covid-19
  • Must pass a health screening and TB test
  • Must provide proof of Tdap and MMR vaccinations (or receive vaccinations during health screening)
  • Must pass background fingerprint clearance
  • Valid Driver License
  • Must be 18 years or older
