The Park Ranger is a commissioned law enforcement officer and will enforce state laws and park regulations through patrol, education, warnings, citations, and arrests.Research the natural and cultural resources found at the Park and develop and implement resource management plans to include prescribed fire and invasive species removal.Prepare and conduct environmental interpretation and education programming.Performs and directs emergency medical response and emergency rescue in the park and other parks upon need.Assist with maintenance of park facilities for routine maintenance and minor repairs, as needed.Operational duties include issuing facility permits, opens, and closes facilities, and purchasing equipment and supplies.May hire and supervise temporary/seasonal employees.Serves as the park contact for public information requests.Required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Prior to Employment: Selected candidates are required to have successful results in physical and psychological examinations to include drug testing and a background investigation as required by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education, Training and Standards Commission.
