GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Skilled work in the general and major repair of mowers, small engines and power tools for the Parks & Recreation Department and Urban Beatification Department. As needed performs duties of Parks Maintenance Worker. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Parks Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Performs mechanical and service work on all recreation equipment such as: tire replacement and repair; repair carburetors; tune-ups; engine overhaul for turf and small equipment.

2. Obtains parts for equipment through established purchasing system. Coordinates repairs as needed through third party vendor. Coordinates repair and maintenance of parks fleet vehicles with public works fleet services division.

3. Keeps a log book on all equipment containing information such as purchase date, service dates, repair or service performed and costs.

4. Provides recommendations for equipment replacement and future budgeting.

5. Ensures all equipment is safe for operation. Is responsible for overall organization, cleanliness, and safety of parks maintenance facilities and storage areas.

6. Serves as quartermaster for all parks small tools and equipment.

7. As Directed by the Parks Manager or Director, provides direct support during times of disasters, Hurricanes and City Clean-up after an event.

8. Regualr in-person attendance during City and department business hours, since face -to-face interaction and coordination of work with other employees, outside colleagues, residents, or vendors, and all immediate access to documents or other information located in the workplace is required.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school graduation or possession of an acceptabel equivalency diploma
• At least two (2) years mechanical experience in the mower/plower tool repair field

(A compparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimun qualifications)

• Ability to establish working relationships with other employees, residents and vendors
• Ability to prepare reports, maintain records, express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and writing.
• Ability to work non-scheduled hours when called in for emergencies.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, lift (heavy: 50 lbs+), carry, grab, reach and hold with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to safely operate equipment relating to essential job functions.Ability to see, hear, and speak (with or without assistance.)

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:

• Must have a valid Florida driver's license.

Working Hours and Environment:

• Works primarily outside in the City Park system.
• Works in varioud weaher conditions with: noise, dust, fumes, grease or oils, electiocal energy
• Slippery surfaces
• With moving opject or vehicles

Pay: $17.31 - $20.00 per hour
