Part- Time Data Analyst Job at Mercy College
Mercy College seeks a creative and knowledgeable Data Analyst to design and produce accurate data reports for Mercy College’s Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Inclusive Excellence Initiative. The HHMI Inclusive Excellence Initiative embodies Mercy College’s commitment to issues of diversity, equity and inclusion by examining and addressing the barriers faced by our diverse student population.
The analyst will be involved in the analysis of data for Mercy College’s HHMI Inclusive Excellence Initiative and will work closely with Institutional Research and Inclusive Excellence staff and faculty. The analyst will collaborate with stakeholders across Mercy College to conduct analyses and develop data sets, dashboards, and visualizations to inform equity-minded decisions at the program and course levels.
The selected candidate will be tenacious about finding answers to questions – and coming up with the right questions – that will help to achieve better outcomes and will share Mercy’s commitment to equity for the students and communities we serve.
Responsibilities include:
- Design data models that can efficiently be utilized as source data for external and internal reports
- Integrate data from various systems, examine patterns in data, and draw insights that can be used to support academic and administrative work across the college
- Serve as a technical liaison between IT, IR and HHMI Inclusive Excellence faculty and staff
- Develop dashboards and visualizations to monitor key performance indicators for the HHMI Inclusive Excellence Initiative and determine additional data needs through open communication and collaboration with key stakeholders
- Design and carry-out all steps of HHMI Inclusive Excellence survey projects including administration, data collection, quality control, analysis, and reporting
- Extract and transform data in preparation for analysis
- Conduct data validation procedures and ensure data integrity
- Develop strategies to support HHMI Inclusive Excellence initiatives pertaining to utilization of analytics platforms
- Coordinate with the HHMI Inclusive Excellence faculty and staff to develop periodic reports for the HHMI funding agency
Experience and/or Skills Required
- Excellent communication skills, including report writing, interpersonal communication, email, and presentations
- Preferred: Knowledge of advanced visualization software and procedures
- Preferred: Experience with data ethics and diversity, equity and inclusion data reporting
- Preferred: Background in statistics and/or predictive modeling
Education Required or Min Education Required
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required; educational background / training in data analytics, research methods, mathematics, and/or computer science preferred
