Part Time Lab Assistant for a Residential Facility

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Assist medical laboratory technicians in the analysis of urine drug screens.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing.
• Adhere to all laboratory policies and procedures.
• Comply with HIPAA guidelines and maintain strict confidence in patient care and lab results.
• Unpack any samples that arrive to the laboratory through a delivery service.
• Accession all specimens that come to the laboratory in the laboratory information system.
• Clean and maintain lab equipment.
• Place orders for samples being sent to the reference laboratory.
• Sort and file paperwork, as needed.
• Ensure patient reports get to the proper location

Qualifications:

• 
  High School Diploma or GED required
• Direct experience as a medical assistant in a fast-paced clinic, hospital, or similar healthcare setting preferred.
• Must be able to multitask effectively; critical time management skills necessary
• Understanding of basic healthcare terminology
• Demonstrated ability to interact with healthcare professionals, patients, and insurance companies alike
• Pleasant demeanor
• Computer skills required
• CPR and BLS certified
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
