Part-Time Licensed Independent Social Worker Job at Beacon Specialized Living Services
*This is a part-time position that will transition into a full time role as the need grows.
Position Summary:
Beacon is a successful and national private-equity backed behavioral health growth company providing residential-based services and supports to children and adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Severe Mental Illness, Autism, and high-acuity behaviors.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Provide a wide range of psychosocial assessments and preliminary diagnostic impression, counseling therapy, crisis intervention, and/or case management services to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and co-occurring behavior health challenges in a small therapeutic home.
· Participate fully in admission and discharge of children with the ultimate goal of transitioning the child to their family home or other residential placement.
· Collect supporting information about children through interview, case history, psychological tests, and/or observational techniques
· Evaluate data to identify causes of problems and determine proper therapeutic approach or referral to other specialists
· Provide crisis management counseling, and/or short-term therapy to children as appropriate
· Provide family therapy as appropriate.
· Prepare treatment and follow-up care programs
· Provide therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required
· Demonstrate knowledge of DSM-5 criteria and appropriate intervention for each entity
· Consult with other behavioral health practitioners and related staff, as appropriate, in the performance of therapeutic and/or casework
· Participate in regular meetings with the family/custodian, County Board of Developmental Disabilities and the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) staff. These meetings can be virtual, phone or in person.
· ICF will be available to the family/custodian & local team should questions regarding strategies & interventions, treatment needs, etc. arise.
· Participate in monthly meetings, or more frequently if needed, to assist with barriers or challenges the family/custodian and county of residence team are facing. Develop a summary report for the family/custodian and team members at the conclusion of the program in concert with other professionals.
· Serve as school system liaison. Participate in IEP and IEP Transition Planning.
· In concert with other professionals, plan and complete observations and visits to next environments. Examples: Home, school, therapy settings, community settings, respite environments. Information gathered can be used to inform the development of new strategies, environmental supports, or needed professional and family development and support.
· Linkage to on-going services
· Improve outcomes for children and families with behavioral health challenges anywhere from ages 10-17.
· Coordinates services with psychiatric and other medical practitioners.
· Serves as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team.
· Model strategy, train staff and others as applicable, monitor effectiveness of therapeutic plan and modify or revise strategies as needed.
· Provide training and support of direct support professionals.
· Facilitate and assist in the development and identification of resources and support information for people supported and their families.
· Practice safe and sound crisis prevention and intervention strategies by promoting and teaching the use of preventative strategies, therapeutic activities and recreation, and early intervention techniques.
· Create an ongoing data collection system to establish baseline and programmatic efficacy for all people supported, and to analyze data on a frequent and ongoing basis to guide programming.
· Work with interdisciplinary team on developing behavior plans/treatment plans for all people supported with a focus on teaching and other antecedent strategies for reducing challenging behavior.
· Recognizes abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and exploitation (ANME) and as a mandated reporter, reports unusual and major unusual incidents following the ANME policies.
· Provide consultation services and maintain ongoing communication with all other supports (parents, community, and community agencies).
· Keep current with the literature, new research findings and resources. In addition, continuing education courses to maintain LISW certification are necessary.
· Maintain all data, paperwork, and communication between personal care staff and families, and to provide ongoing feedback to government related agencies that contract with such families.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Qualifications:
· LISW Certification
· At least one year of experience preferred.
· Ability to work with a variety of people with disabilities regardless of age, functionality, and with minimal direction
· Flexible availability
· Current on all required trainings/certifications
· Current Ohio Driver’s License
· Transportation that is reliable and insured in the state of Ohio.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $61,000.00 - $63,000.00 per year
