Part-Time/PRN Dietary Aide Job at Mt. Hope Nursing Center

Mt. Hope is nestled between Wichita and Hutchinson directly adjected to the four-lane K-96 Highway in Northwest Sedgwick County. We are 12-miles south from Burrton, KS, and 13-miles Northwest of Maize. We are a 40-bed skilled nursing facility that provides patient centered care.

Primary Accountabilities: Assists in the kitchen area prior to, during, and after meals are served to residents. Assists in maintaining kitchen work areas, and keeping equipment, utensils, and food plates clean and orderly.

Major Duties:

· Washes dishes, tableware, glasses, and other kitchen and dining room equipment used in preparing of a meal and assured they are stored in an orderly fashion

· Required to prepare and serve coffee, tea, juice, etc.

· Required to clean work areas, dining room floor, dining room tables, and dining room chairs after each meal and occasionally after special events.

· Required to remove garbage from dining room and kitchen and clean trash containers.

· Required to perform duties in a swift and orderly fashion to accomplish tasks in allotted time but also being mindful of service expectations to accommodate elder requests and preferences.

· Assures work is performed in accordance with all federal, state, and facility regulations regarding sanitation and infection control.

· Attends all in-services as required.

· Perform all other reasonable tasks assigned by your supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speaking the primary language of the elders.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and follow instructions.
  • Ability to provide service to elders in a friendly manner.

Physical Demands:

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

· Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to kitchen equipment.

· Ability to stoop, kneel or crouch.

· Ability to taste and smell.

· Ability to lift to one hundred (100) pounds.

Work Environment:

· Works primarily indoors in a climate-controlled setting.

· Possible exposure to unpleasant odors.

· Possible exposure to chemicals as identified in the MSDS Manual.

· Frequent exposure to water, refrigerator/freezer, heat, and flames.

· Continuous exposure to residents who are ill, confused, irritable and irrational.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $15.60 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Holidays
  • Rotating weekends

COVID-19 considerations:
All staff are required to complete daily COVID-19 screenings and test as required.

Experience:

  • long term care: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • ServSafe (Preferred)
