At SUNSET FORD of Waterloo our Service and Parts Department is growing, and we have the need for a STRONG ASSISTANT PARTS MANAGER, which means opportunity for financial rewards for you! Previous related experience is required for this position.
Assistant Parts Manager Responsibilities
- Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of any additional parts department staff
- Maintain balanced inventory consistent with the requirements of the service department, wholesale accounts, and the do-it-yourself public
- Maintain pricing parameters in each customer category that generates sufficient gross profit to produce a satisfactory profit while maintaining customer loyalty
- Ensure parts are properly tagged so dealership recovers full credit from Ford Motor Company
- Supervise stock order procedures and monitor and adjust inventory to minimize obsolescence
- Place and receive/inventory the daily parts order
- Provide technical assistance to parts department employees and technicians
- Coordinate a prompt, efficient, and timely flow of paperwork
- Direct shipping and receiving efforts to ensure timely processing
- Enforce safety requirements, including but not limited to forklift training and operation, processing of MSDS sheets on all products carried, and OSHA Right-to-Know
- Give accurate parts estimates, with availability of parts, pricing, and all components needed to complete a repair
- Finalize parts tickets and account for all invoices to be closed by month end
- Bill out parts to repair orders and over the counter transactions
- Ensure all warranty processes are followed for accurate processing and payment
- Inventory Ford Warranty parts to be called back and returned by Ford Motor Company
- Pre stage parts for maintenance services to increase shop efficiency
- Make outbound and inbound calls to address customers parts inquiries
- Cashier guests and collect payment.
Assistant Parts Manager Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents and reports such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Effective speaker before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Adept at defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
- Capable of interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and several abstract and concrete variables
- Proficiency in nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases
- Previous experience at an automotive dealership
- Excellent organization and ability to multitask
- Ability to learn new computer system
- Understands and has strong knowledge base of manufacturer’s warranty and general warranty procedures.
- Positive, friendly attitude, along with a customer service mentality
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
- Team player with ability to collaborate with others effectively
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook Email and Excel
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Willing to submit to pre-employment drug screen and background check
