Pastry Chef Job at Gage Hotel

PASTRY CHEF

OBJECTIVE:

Responsible for directing and coordinating all pastry and baking preparation for all hotel outlets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· At least 2 years of pastry and high volume baking experience

· Exceptional Interpersonal Skills

· Must be a Team Player

· Positive and encouraging attitude

· Excellent communication, guest service and time management skills

· Ability to work effectively in an innovative, fast-paced and multi-tasked environment

· Available to work varied shifts when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.

· Must possess a high level of attention to detail.

· Ensure all pastries are consistently uniform and up to the highest quality standards.

· Excellent banquet buffet and individual dessert set up and plating skills.

· Expert in cake and pastry decorating.

· Ability to create seasonal & special occasion show pieces using a variety of mediums. IE sugar, Chocolate, and Pastiage.

· Working knowledge of classical and modern dessert techniques.

· Stay current and informed of useful cutting-edge culinary trends.

· DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Communicate with all Departments regarding Maintenance, Front Desk and F&B requests

· Prepare breads and pastries, including preparing doughs and fillings, proofing, baking, and decorating as appropriate.

· Review Production sheet to understand variety of baked goods to be produced daily.

· Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and food prep checklists.

· Produce desserts as designed by the designers and meet expectations of the client’s vision.

· Follows baking and decorating instructions for orders.

· Assists customers with special orders, answer questions about freshness, available options and quantity served.

· Keep Chef informed of excess food items for planning of daily specials.

· Safely and appropriately use baking and measuring tools/equipment/appliances to prepare baked foods.

· Follow and ensure compliance with food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene procedures.

· Check and ensure correct temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, and report issues to management.

· Monitor the quality of food prepared and portions served throughout shift.

· Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.

· Other duties as assigned

WORK SCHEDULE:

· Flexible work schedules available for Part-Time positions

· Full-time positions may be required to work AM/PM, weekends and holidays as needed

SALARY/BENEFITS:

· Starting salary $48,000.00-$58,000.00, based on experience
