ESSENTIAL DUTIES PER AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
1. Performs patient care as assigned by the nurse. This may include the data collection of vital signs, daily weights, dietary intake, and output.
2. Accurate and timely document in the EHR data collected and/or care performed.
3. Immediately, as available, respond to patient call lights, address patient needs, and
report any changes in patient condition to the primary nurse.
4. Assist patients with rehabilitative activities and activities of daily living such as
drinking, eating, dressing, bathing, and personal hygiene.
5. Safely ambulates patients within parameters of weight bearing status or at the level of
assistance indicated by RN or Rehab staff.
6. Act as a behavioral health safety sitter when appropriate.
6. Assist nursing staff to keep room tidy and clutter-free.
7. Clean collection of urine and stool samples as delegated by the nurse.
8. Prepare patient rooms for admission and assist in the discharge process.
UNIT COORDINATOR (UC)
1. Prepare and maintain medical record to ensure accuracy of records and integrity of
charts for the electronic and paper record.
2. Prepare medical record for patient discharges or transfers and including scheduling of
follow up appointments.
3. Acts as the primary contact for the Adult & Pediatric unit by answering the phone,
directing visitors, and assisting both nursing and providers
4. Maintain unit stock supplies by monitoring of expiration dates, performing special
orders and requisition of unit supplies.
5. Complete Quality Assurance, Performance improvement, and Strategic plan initiatives
as assigned.
TELE TECH (TT)
1. Knowledge of cardiac rhythms, measurement of PR, QRS, QT, ST segments, and
correct lead placement.
2. Documents EKG rhythms, EKG measurements, and EKG changes in the patient
record.
3. Maintain constant communication with primary RN and articulate wave patterns using
appropriate medical terminology. Trouble shoot with primary RN regarding lead wires
off, electrode and battery changes, and proper lead placement to ensure optimal rhythm
configuration on the telemetry monitor.
4. Assists in Code Blues, cardioversion, and reprogramming of pacemakers by running
monitor strips as appropriate.
5. Maintains and cleans equipment and supplies.
6. Notifies BioMed of all malfunctions and problems with equipment as soon as possible.
Notifies Spacelab technical support with clinical access issues.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) or certification within 4 months.
Or - Graduate Nurse: associates degree in nursing (ADN) or bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) with RN board-certification within 4 months
- Successfully pass written arrhythmia exam with score of 80% or better; or
- Possession of tele-tech certification from an accredited agency and successfully pass arrhythmia exam in Relias with score of 100% yearly.;
OR - RN’s and Respiratory Therapist must have ACLS and successfully pass arrhythmia exam in Relias with score of 100% yearly;
OR - LPN and CNA’s successfully pass arrhythmia course and exam with a score of 80% or better
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Colorado State Certified Nursing Assistant License within 4 months of hire
Or
RN license within 4 months of hire for Graduate Nurses. - BLS/CPR.
HRRMC has a PRN, positions for a Patient Care Tech working on the Medical/Surgical Unit. Hours for this position vary with days and nights. This position is eligible for an 8% pay differential and evening / night shift differential when applicable: employee assistance program, employee retirement plans an on site employee gym.

SCOPE STATEMENT:
PCTs perform patient care duties as delegated by a nursing. These duties may fall into any of
three positions: CNA, Unit Coordinator, or Tele tech. When assigned as a CNA This job consists of basic nursing skills, personal care skills, basic restorative services, and
recognition of mental health and social service needs. PCTs ensure infection control measures are adhered to, safety and emergency procedures follow.
When assigned as Tele Tech:
- Provide basic EKG monitoring while concentrating on monitoring patient status through
assessment of ECG strips and arrhythmia interpretation. - Identify and responds to potentially life threatening rhythm changes, initiate codes, record rhythms during code,
When assigned as a Unit Coordinator:
- Prepares, compiles and maintains patients' medical records in assigned nursing unit.
- Coordinates communication between professional staff and with other hospital departments.
