Job Title: Medical Billing Specialist - Payment Poster
Summary: This position will be responsible for efficiently handling all aspects of accurately processing electronic and manual insurance payment posting, collecting patient balances and accounts receivable.
Essential Job Functions: .
· Lockbox processing: post patient and insurance payments received via lockbox.
· Electronic payment posting: coordinate payment files with bank file, post electronic files
· Manage payments received via patient portal
· Research and correct denials
· Handle incoming statement phone calls, answer & research general statement questions
· Manage payment plans
· Prepare and forward accounts to collection agency
· Reconcile unapplied patient deposits
· Review patient overpayments and initiate refund requests, post to account & mail to patient.
· Work closely with department Supervisor and Coordinators
Professional Qualifications:
- Knowledge of CPT & ICD10
- Knowledge of computer systems, programs and spreadsheet applications
- Knowledge and ability to read insurance explanation of benefits
- Knowledge and ability to access insurance company websites
- Effective communication skills
· Must be task oriented; strong attention to detail, able to complete assignments accurately and timely, and work well within a team to ensure work is completed.
