Payroll Manager – Sugar Land, TX

Job Purpose:

Prepare the biweekly payroll including taxes, wire transfers, journal entries, and reconciliations.

Additional responsibilities include, processing special payroll runs. Serves as contact for resolving issues with payroll provider. Monitors overall effectiveness of payroll systems and processes.

Key Functions:

1. Ensure regulatory compliance of wage and hour laws.

2. Review payroll systems and processes and make recommendations to improve effectiveness.

3. Compile payroll data including hours worked, benefits, taxes and insurance to be withheld from timesheets and other records.

4. Review time submitted and wages computed. Correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.

5. Record changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and various payroll deductions for each employee to update master payroll records.

6. Record data concerning transfer of employees between Districts.

7. Keep records of leave pay and nontaxable wages.

8. Balance company payroll reports.

9. Prepare and submit Payroll Wire Transfer Request Form.

10. Enter payroll data on ledgers, control sheets, warrants, and other accounting records.

11. Prepare monthly time allocation reports.

12. Process manual payroll checks for all lost, stale-dated, voided, and stop payment payroll checks.

13. Assist in reconciling general ledger to various payroll reports.

14. Prepare periodic financial, statistical, and operational reports, as assigned.

15. Maintain payroll related employee leave records, including sick and vacation leave.

16. Assist with various audits (financial, worker’s compensation) throughout the year.

17. Write payroll procedures to ensure consistency in processes.

18. Resolve and analyze employee payroll issues and discrepancies, as well as time discrepancies.

19. Ensure taxes are accurate and paid by the third-party vendor.

20. Complies with applicable company policies and standards of operating procedures (SOP’s), including Personnel, Quality System and Health, Safety and Environment standards and procedures. Completes relevant safety training.

Education

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in human resources, business administration, accounting, or a closely related field.

Experience/Requirements

5-8 years of experience processing payroll, preferably in the oilfield service industry.

Paylocity payroll processing experience preferred.

Must be experienced with taxes, wire transfers, journal entries and reconciliations.

Experience maintaining confidential information.

Proficient in MS office; Excel and Word.

FPC or CPP Preferred.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
