Payroll Specialist Job at Hughes Resources Inc.
Our customer in Freeport, Illinois is a construction company with a long-standing reputation in the Midwest region. They are seeking a talented, hard-working individual to join their extraordinary team as a Payroll Specialist. In this role, you will process weekly and monthly payrolls for over 1,200 employees and perform other accounting duties.
Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist:
- Checking payroll data for accuracy.
- Preparing and processing data into databases and spreadsheets.
- Handling direct deposit requests and data.
- Processing paper checks for distribution.
- Assisting with new hire documentation and layoff reporting.
- Updating and verifying union rates, benefits, and audits.
- Completing payroll tax and 401k deposits.
- Helping with year-end reporting.
Payroll Specialist Requirements and Qualifications:
- Associate degree preferred.
- Payroll experience including taxes, unemployment, and withholdings required.
- Basic knowledge of general ledger accounting functions.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Knowledge of construction industry and union experience desired.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize.
Pay for Payroll Specialist: Starting at $28-$32/hour based on experience.
