What we need…
The Payroll Specialist will ensure accurate processing and recording of company’s payroll, provide timely and accurate financial information, and participate in daily auditing and exception review. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for performing daily payroll operations and processing multi-state payroll for 10K+ employees in a fast paced and high-volume environment.
Responsibilities:
What You Will Do...
  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
  • Verify payroll output against pre-check payroll registers prior to distribution of checks to maintain accuracy.
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
  • Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits
  • Understand Employee and Employer taxes
  • Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed
  • Update and reconcile monthly bank statements for Accounting
  • Perform/Process Taxable Wage Audits – pay period, bank reconciliations, union dues,
  • adjustments/amendments in compliance with established standards.
  • Timecard edits & calculations based on state overtime regulations.
  • Research and respond to employee payroll inquiries in a professional and prompt manner
  • Audit daily payroll exceptions for new and transferring employees.
  • Process stop payments and direct deposit reversals
  • Backup for other members of payroll team
  • Daily Manual Check processing
  • Paid Time Off Accrual Plan setups/audits/testing etc.
  • Work with Manager & Payroll vendor to improve payroll process and test improvements in test environment
  • Comprehensive understanding and maintenance of Process documentation, and Controls; SLA and Policies adherence.
  • Comprehend payroll challenges and drive solution by challenging status quo, execute process improvements.
  • Paid Time Off Accrual Plan setups/audits/testing etc.
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned by management
Qualifications:
What Helps You Stand Out...
  • College degree or minimum 5 years of payroll processing multi-state payroll and data entry experience
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local payroll and benefits law and regulation.
  • Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices, supported by proven experience
  • Experience with UltiPro Time and Attendance (UTA) HRIS preferred
  • Experience with Employee &; Employer Taxes and Quarterly/Annual Returns
  • Strong communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of personnel
  • Excellent attention to detail, exhibiting strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong work ethic and team player.
  • High degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
Preferred qualifications
  • Working knowledge on UKG, UltiPro Web and Oracle.
  • FPC or CPP Certification preferred
  • W2 & W2c Auditing and Processing
  • Quarterly and Annual Tax Filing experience
  • Highly motivated self-starter and comfortable in a multi-tasking environment
  • Ability to learn technology quickly through instruction and self-training
  • “Can do” attitude willing to take ownership of activities outside direct job responsibility when necessary
Pay ranges for this job title may differ based on location, responsibilities, skills, experience, and other requirements of the role. The estimated pay range for this role is $26 - $30 per hour.
