Bluebird's Hope, Inc. is a non-proft organization that provides free Forensic Nursing Examinations to victims of all ages who have experienced sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, and strangulation. Currently, these exams are offered in Floresville, TX. Bluebird's Hope is looking for a Pediatric Medical Director who specializes in Child Abuse. This is a less than part-time role, with standing delegated orders being primarily utilized, although as needed consultations are necessary. Chart review will be conducted as required per governing agencies, with the Medical Director’s schedule being accommodated.

The Pediatric Medical Director is expected to collaborate with administrators of Bluebird’s Hope to establish and modify protocols, procedures, and/or policies that will then be utilized by the organizations SANE/FNEs. Additionally, the Pediatric Medical Director will work closely with the executive team to implement strategies that enhance patient care and improve medical practice. The Medical Director will work with Bluebird’s Hope to improve the overall quality of care. The Medical Director should be dedicated to promoting the trust and professionalism of our facility within the community.

Position responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • Provide signed standing delegated orders for Pediatric Forensic Nurse Examinations, medications, labs, and procedures in compliance with policies and protocols.
  • Assist SANEs in treating or providing follow up care for patients by ordering and reading diagnostic labs.
  • Be available, by phone, to assist SANEs with patient care and deviations from the standard orders.
  • Ensure provision of high quality, expeditious, and cost effective care to all victims.
  • Complete chart reviews as required by governing agencies.
  • Mentor team members and encourage professional growth and development.
  • Act as a resource and educator for team members.
  • Assist and/or participate with research studies.
  • Assist with the coordination of interdepartmental and interagency needs.
  • May review charts of any/all nurses at any time with management and SANE/FNE present to ensure access and thoroughness of review.
  • Attends monthly MDT, virtual availability
  • Respond to subpoena requests

Position requirements include but are not limited to;

  • Licensed Pediatrician in the State of Texas
  • Child Abuse Specialist
