Position Summary
This position is funded by a grant for a duration of time as defined by the grantor.
Works under general supervision of a supervisor to develop and implement nutritional counseling programs and procedures to consult and provide technical assistance to nursing/nutrition staff, patients, and groups.

Pay Grade: 45 Minimum Qualifications
100.00% - 1. Two (2) years of professional experience in a nutritional or educational capacity in a healthcare or educational environment; and

2. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nutrition, education, or a related field; OR
3. An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Functions as primary support counselor for breastfeeding mothers.

2. Directs professional staff in the assessment of client"s attitudes and knowledge concerning breastfeeding.

3. Provides directions for staff in conducting prenatal discussion groups and/or classes in breastfeeding.

4. Makes home and hospital visits to breastfeeding mothers as necessary.

5. Lectures to groups and monitors discussion.

6. Organizes and coordinates the mother-to-mother support and baby care support groups.

7. Collects, surveys, and analyzes program evaluation data and develops plans for implementation and program changes.

8. Prepares evaluations and reports as required.

9. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

KSA's
KSA's - 1. Knowledge of the methods and techniques of counseling and their application.

2. Knowledge of basic nutrition principles as it relates to health and breastfeeding.

3. Ability to establish and maintain a high level of motivation and commitment to breastfeeding promotion.

4. Ability to maintain and establish meaningful rapport with patients peers and subordinates.

5. Ability to evaluate data from reports and distribute via computer program.

6. Ability to work with various support agencies in exchange for information and computer data.

7. Ability to organize and supervise meaningful activities relevant to patient"s needs.
8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
Special Requirements
1. Must possess a valid Tennessee driver's license or secure one by date of employment.

2. Must have daily access to an operable automobile and meet County requirements for automobile insurance upon date of employment.
