We serve the residents of Hamilton County in more ways than you may realize! In this role, you will be a deflection peer navigator, collaborating with first responders/law enforcement to provide crisis counseling and immediate intervention on an individual and/or family basis while navigating them through the continuum of care. The navigators will work on a variety of deflection programming to deflect individuals out of the criminal Justice system and into long term care for mental health, substance use, homelessness, and other quality of life concerns.
Summary of Job Duties:
- Assist on a variety of deflection initiatives to help navigate individuals out of the criminal justice system and into care. Assist participants in gaining entry into recovery support service programs - addiction, mental health, homelessness, basic survival needs, and other quality of life concerns - accompany participants to initial appointments as needed.
- Identify gaps and barriers to participant services and available community resources to accommodate or overcome those obstacles. Develop and maintain a working relationship with Sober living partners, JFS workers, chemical dependency treatment providers, mental health providers, health care providers, shelter providers, landlords, detox centers, protective or representative payees, and other community programs which may support participants; Provide prevention education and intervention strategies via community outreach and harm reduction materials.
- Daily maintenance of accurate and current participant records, logging events, entering client data, files and documentation, follow-ups, and communication notes via Cordata system, while maintaining confidentiality. Collect data using the Cordata system to track progress against mutually developed success metrics according to program, contract, and state requirements; maintain client files, enter client data, and maintain client confidentiality.
- Execute a variety of projects as it relates to co-responder deflection. Adapt to department priorities as needed and communicate with grant stakeholders on grant activity, outcomes measures, and research. Serves as the source for resources and information related to service providers and deflection programming.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with law enforcement and criminal justice partners including Cincinnati Police Department, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Patrol, Hamilton County Municipal and Common Pleas Court, as well as the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s office.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in social/behavioral science, social work, counseling, psychology, criminal justice, or closely related field. In lieu of degree, experience will be considered.
- Two years minimum related experience which evidences a basic knowledge of addiction services, behavioral contracting process, and individual and group interactive processes; or equivalent education and experience
- Valid driver’s license issued by the state of residency
Work Location and Hours:
- 138 E. Court St. Cincinnati, Oh. 45202.
- 40 Hour Work Week, generally between core hours of 7:30-5:30
