FUNCTION

This position is to will be responsible for providing peer support services to youth ages 16-25 years of age who are experiencing homelessness, housing instability or have run away. The peer navigator will support by providing guidance and tools to LGBTQ+ unhoused clients around accessing public benefits and entitlements, navigating the shelter and housing systems, and navigating education and other relevant systems.

TOP RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting clients accessing the Drop-In Center by:Engaging with peers through 1:1 mentorship sessions

Facilitating groups and programming
Facilitate Client Advisory Board meetings
Support youth leadership programming and opportunities
Organize and facilitating communication regarding support, resources, and crisis intervention

  • Providing culturally responsive assistance to each youth and utilizing evidence-based practices including Positive Youth Development, Trauma-informed Care and Harm Reduction
  • Monitoring physical and emotional safety, appropriateness, and engagement of youth participants at Drop-In, and interrupting oppressive and inappropriate behavior
  • Attend and participating in staff meetings and weekly supervision
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, service plan reviews, intake meetings and discharge
  • conferences to represent the needs and best interest of program participants;
  • Attend and participating in In-Service Training
  • Documenting daily individual and group services
  • Other duties that may be assigned.

QUALIFICATION NEEDED

  • Lived experience with homelessness or housing instability as a youth is required.
  • Must be able to work independently and with teams.
  • Experience working with adolescent/young adult population required.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays
  • Transgender & gender non-conforming people are encouraged to apply. Bilingual (Spanish) speakers are encouraged to apply.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 per year
