Peer Support Specialist Job at Newaygo County Mental Health
Newaygo County Mental Health is seeking an individual for a part time Peer Support Specialist position within our Adult Services Team. Primary responsibilities include promoting and participating in activities that enhance consumer recovery such as community inclusion activities, advocacy, education opportunities, etc. Provide direct services that may include outreach and engagement, linkage to community supports, transportation, in-home services, and group facilitation. Assists team in identifying program environments that are conducive to recovery; lending their unique insight into mental illness or dual diagnosis and what makes recovery possible.
Applicants must be a current or former primary consumer of public mental health services, have the ability and strong commitment to share personal life experiences, and be committed to the principals of Person Centered Planning. Must have a High School diploma or equivalent, strong computer and typing skills, and possess a valid Michigan driver's license. Certification as a Peer Support Specialist is preferred, or must be able to obtain certification within six months of employment. This is a part time position, up to 32 hours per week. Pay range is $11.74 - $16.70 based on experience.
