About this Position

The primary responsibility of the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) is to ensure adherence to Wells Pharma’s SOP’s and policies, adherence/compliance to state and federal regulations, and directly supervise pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and cleanroom staff. The PIC will work directly for the Director of Operations to ensure production goals are achieved, assist with investigations, assist in daily operational pharmacy duties, monitor training and work with Quality to ensure all training is up to date. The PIC oversees all aspects of pre-production, cleanroom, and post-production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain state pharmacy license(s).
  • Directly supervise staff pharmacists, pre-production, cleanroom, and post-production staff.
  • General oversight of the compounding space. This includes, but is not limited to, weekly/monthly walkthroughs to ensure SOP(s) are being followed as written.
  • Responsible for the execution of opening and closing activities; either directly, or through delegation to a staff pharmacist.
  • Work with Director of Operations to ensure production schedules are created, tracked, and met.
  • Identify trends or issues that are delaying batch production or causing batches to be discarded.
  • Represent the Pharmacy department in all state and federal regulatory audits, visits, and communication.
  • Review of batch records and associated documentation.
  • Understanding of the importance/impact of cGMP standards.
  • Assist in documentation and completion of Adverse Drug Event forms.
  • Hire, monitor, and terminate employees as necessary with Director of Operations approval
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements following local, state, and federal laws regarding he profession of pharmacy practice.
  • Regularly communicate with all staff during regular meetings.
  • Become licensed in all states requiring the Pharmacist in Charge to take exams. (Wells to pay for travel, exam costs and annual license renewal costs.)
  • Expert knowledge of DEA, FDA and state regulations pertaining to manufacturing and handling of controlled substances.
  • Expert knowledge of DEA quotas along with the process surrounding increasing quotas as needed with continuous growth.
  • Shall have no allergies to chemicals that might be used during compounding.
  • Other duties that may be assigned from time to time or common for your position.
  • Compound Pharmaceuticals as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; maintaining schedules, approving timesheets and time off requests appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy.

Active pharmacy license issued by the State of TX Board of Pharmacy that is in good standing.

Have at minimum two (2) years of aseptic sterile compounding experience.

Have a minimum of one (1) year of API powder to sterile compounding experience (Preferable).

Have a basic understanding of Compounding/Order management systems or software. (i.e., Compounder (Pk), LifeFile, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.)

Pay: From $105,000.00 per year
