Position Summary
Duties of this position is split between 340B coordination and Pharmacy Tech position. The 340B Program Coordinator will gather and analyze all data related to participation in the 340B drug discount program including performing routine audits, maintaining policies, procedures, and certification, and is responsible for day-to-day administration and operation of the 340B drug discount program. Under the general direction of the Pharmacy Director assists in all aspects of preparing and dispensing medications and Hazardous drug materials such as chemotherapy. Performs medication preparation, packaging, labeling, stocking and delivery functions, as well as clerical duties.
Essential Job functions
Reporting to the Pharmacy Director, the Pharmacy Technician/ 340B Program coordinator shall work collaboratively with members of the team. Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Maintain professional working relationships at all times, with the pharmacy staff, physicians, nurses, other medical personnel and others.
- Assist with operational activities of the pharmacy such as answering incoming calls and directs them to the appropriate person, taking messages as needed.
- Provide oversight and audit of inventory related functions to ensure compliance with the 340B program.
- Maintain and review 340B Program policies and procedures on an ongoing basis and provide updates as appropriate to ensure ongoing 340B compliance.
- Perform audit function to ensure adherence to 340B program guidelines and regulations and compliance with 340B program requirements for qualified patients, drugs and locations.
- Monitor and audit state Medicaid claims to ensure compliance to prevent potential duplicate discount rebates.
- Evaluate patient eligibility for qualified and non-qualified patients in mixed-use areas and clinics by reviewing patient medical records, insurance plans and applicable hospital status.
- Work with our Third Party Administrator (TPA) to prepare monthly or Quarterly reports of 340B program metrics and financial savings, including analysis of the program and recommendations for improvement.
- Apply analytical methods to review and refine monthly 340B cost savings reports detailing purchasing and replacement practices, as well as dispensing patters.
- Ensures split-billing software integrity and reviews applicable reports for areas of improvement.
- Review inventory and monitor medications, including specialty drugs, in accordance with 340B program guidelines.
- Develop and foster working relationships with internal working counterparts (e.x. Billing) to facilitate and improve program efficiency and promote program compliance. Provide data, information, and reports as needed for other business units within the organization as needed.
- Perform monthly self-audits of 340B pharmacy operations. Ensure compliance with 340B Program requirements for qualified patients, drugs, and locations. Monitor and audit state Medicaid claims to ensure compliance to prevent potential duplicate discount rebates.
- Manage existing contracts and supplier relations and manage drug selection, procurement, and inventory control.
- Monitor ordering processes, integrating the most current pricing from wholesalers.
- Manage purchasing, receiving, and inventory control processes.
- Continually monitor product par levels to effectively balance product availability and cost-efficient inventory control.
- Ensure appropriate safeguards and system integrity.
- Perform annual inventory and monthly cycle counts.
- Assists pharmacist in the preparation and delivery of medications to patient care areas.
- Processes charges and credits in the pharmacy computer system.
- Accurately fills/refill automatic dispensing device with the assistance of bar code verification, keeping required records of dispensation.
- Performs daily checks of medication refrigerators, documenting accordingly.
- Assists in maintaining and documenting narcotic inventory control system.
- Performs purchasing, inventory, manufacturing and prepackaging functions to maintain appropriate stock levels according to the departmental policies and procedures.
- Processes incoming stock and monitors expiration dates of stock and removes outdated medications and supplies.
- Follows privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations as outlined by CRH and HIPPA.
- Picks up orders from patient care areas.
- Work independently as necessary, reliably follows through to complete tasks.
- Demonstrates appropriate safety, hazardous materials and infection control practices.
- Clean Pharmacy hoods as stated in the pharmacy defined policy and procedures
- Accurately prepares Intravenous (IV) solutions and maintaining sterility under pharmacist supervision.
- Accurately performs pharmaceutical calculations.
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance to the established Crossing Rivers Health policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Other job duties and responsibilities as assigned to effectively meet the needs of the patients, the department, and the organization as a whole.

Requirements:
Education
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
- Associate’s Degree (two year college or technical school) Preferred, Field of Study: Pharmacy Technician or Healthcare related field.
Experience
- A minimum of 1 year hospital or retail pharmacy experience as a Pharmacy Technician or other medical related position
- Data analysis, previous work on 340B program preferred
Computer Skills
- Demonstrates computer knowledge and other security requirements such as Microsoft Office, Omnicell or Pyxis and Epic.
Certifications & Licenses
- Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred. Must be obtained within 1 year of employment.
- 340B ACE Certification preferred
