ETSU Physicians is searching for Certified Phlebotomists who are interested in picking up extra shifts when available. Coverage areas would include all ETSU Health Physician locations in Johnson City, Elizabethton, and Kingsport. The extra shifts could be Days, Evenings, and/or Weekends. ETSU Physicians is a multi-specialty practice group located in Northeast Tennessee, and is affiliated with ETSU Health, ETSU Family Medicine, Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University. ETSU Physicians offers a competitive compensation package with a negotiable salary based on education and experience.

Job Summary: Under general supervision, duties include computer entry of laboratory orders, collection, processing, and routing of specimens for in-house and send-out testing, result entry and performance of waived tests. The applicant must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge, and experience in performance of phlebotomy and waived laboratory procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Perform computer entry of laboratory orders and test results.
• Perform a variety of phlebotomy procedures on pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Instruct patients on proper urine collection procedures and appropriately allocate collected sample.
• Order, stock, and inventory supplies for the laboratory.
• Operate various laboratory equipment.
• Clean equipment and perform routine maintenance of laboratory instruments.
• Clean and organize laboratory work areas.
• Maintain all laboratory logs and records.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Coordinate daily communications of laboratory with patients, physicians and other parties.
• Participate in educational activities.
• Perform other related work as required.

Educational Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED, successful completion, and certification from a phlebotomy training program.

Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience required. The ideal candidate needs to be able to work as part of a team and must have strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
