Summary:

Job Description:

A foreman s primary responsibility is to ensure every job is completed to civil and engineered plan specifications.

Primary Responsibilities:

• check in with superintendent for morning schedules
• assess job priorities and delegate employees to appropriate tasks for day
• ensure employees have tools and equipment needed for maximum output
• oversee the work and make sure things are running smoothly and per plan
• make sure safety precautions are administered - keep safety kits in case of emergencies during the work day
• communicate with the superintendents regarding your crew - both positive and negative
• train new employees and help them as they learn new tasks
• give clear and concise direction to workers
• educate and enforce company rules and regulations/policies and procedures
• practice great time management - complete jobs within timeline given, adjust schedules as needed
• ensure tools and equipment are scheduled for job needs
• perform daily safety and maintenance checks - ensure equipment is safely and securely stored
• complete jobs efficiently and on time without sacrificing the quality of work being done
• hold daily and weekly job-site safety meetings and log them appropriately
• ensure access to houses, water supply and waste sites, maintain easements
• operate equipment safely and efficiently by following proper loading and unloading procedures

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• CPR/First Aid certified - preferred but not required, we pay for necessary training
• experience in all wet utilities, including but not limited to, sewer, water, storm drain, gravity irrigation, and pressure irrigation
• knowledge of operation of front-end loaders, excavators and other pieces of heavy equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• ability to coordinate employees daily tasks
• ability to handle personnel issues if they arise
• ability to climb in and out of trenches, manholes, and other confined work areas; climb ladders, stairs, uneven terrain and to lift, maneuver, and transport up to 70 lbs.

Working Conditions - physical, environmental, sensory and mental demands:

The unavoidable, externally imposed conditions under which the work must be performed and which create hardship for the incumbent including the frequency and duration of occurrence of physical demands, environmental conditions, demands on one's senses and mental demands.

The pipe foreman has a physically strenuous and demanding job. He/she will be lifting, pulling, and managing heavy equipment and objects. Will have to work in all weather, and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold. He/she must ensure that all activities are completed in a safe and efficient way.

He/she must work outside and may at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances. Must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection.

Must work independently and is expected to maintain a schedule of work. Any problems or inconveniences may result in increased stress to complete tasks in a limited time.

Schedule:

• 8-12 hour shifts Mon-Friday, sometimes Saturdays
• Overtime availability
• Day shifts
