Lex Products currently has an opening for a Planner. This successful candidate will plan, schedule, direct, and drive all production activities which includes facilitating a master schedule, establishing sequence and lead times of each operation to meet forecasted sales, product ship dates and company operational and financial goals. The role is also responsible for the generation and upkeep of performance reports to the Executive Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Direct the development and maintenance of capacity and production schedules for 2 facilities be it Shelton, CT and Pacoima, CA according to customer orders, Finished Goods Program, and sales forecast.
  • Participate as a “contributor” towards the future implementation of MRP software or/as need be.
  • Work jointly with the Scheduling team on the issuance of work orders and inter-site transfers.
  • Determine optimum build quantities for Finished Goods based on requirements, materials, and capacity.
  • Work towards establishing lead times and planning builds, especially on large orders.
  • Coordinate material availability with Supply Chain to establish a realistic build plan that meets the customer’s expectations.
  • Work in unison with Manufacturing in Analyzing plant capacity data and production specifications both present and future and determine labor requirements and manufacturing processing using mathematical calculations and time studies.
  • Plan and drive departmental and operational workflow schedules based on previously established lead times and manufacturing sequences (fabrication, assembly etc.).
  • Release and drive production orders to the factory in both sites based on sales orders and Finished Goods requirements. Daily monitoring and reporting of work in process and analysis of stock levels.
  • Collaborate on and communicate the labor needs and shortages thereof to Production Supervisor(s), and Human Resources in order to maintain proper operating capacity.
  • Notify Operations and Customer Service when scheduled shipments will not be achieved as planned.
  • Interface with Purchasing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales, Human Resources, and production personnel.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Requirements :

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Etc.).
  • Proficiency with MRP/ERP systems.
    • Exposure to the Made 2 Manage ERP system would be beneficial.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Suite.
  • Understanding of production and supply chain procedures, assembly sequences and cycle times highly desired.
  • Attention to detail and strong organization skills.
  • Must have effective communication skills, verbal, written.
  • Ability to be adaptable & flexible to changing workplace priorities with ability to change direction quickly.
  • Ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to drive and follow through on tasks and projects.
  • Ability to work independently using procedures.
  • Good negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Good analytical skills.

  • Strong customer service orientation with a demonstrated desire to exceed expectations.
  • High School diploma required, 2-year – 4-year College degree preferred.
  • Two years+ in a production/manufacturing environment required.
